Shifties come from the clouds, but sometimes drift down to earth with the rain. They are cat-sized creatures that change depending on their surroundings. In a forest, their body may grow mushrooms and moss. In a river, they become water. They do not always like the changes they develop as they have little control over them. Some try their whole life to get back to the clouds, but become too heavy to do so. Very few shifty mature and gain the ability to change according to will.
Shifties grow by experiencing new environments, but they prefer staying where they are. Change can be painful. However, once they spend more time in a new environment, they start getting excited at the new possibilities.

Shifties change depending on their environment, but very few grow to reach their full potential. Most shifties mature out of their baby phase, but rarely develop into their teenage or adult form. They can only grow by travelling to different places that push them to towards new transformations. Those who’ve only experienced a handful of habitats stay a child.
However, a shifty that experiences enough changes will gain the ability to master their transformation, taking on the form of any environment from their past. Instead of changing depending on their environment, Master Shifties can even bring change into their surroundings. They can conjure fire and happy memories whenever they please. Once a master shifty has travelled through all the habitats in one dimension, they go to the next.

House shifties, like wild shifties change depending on their environment. They typically enjoy messier homes, with more clutter for them to blend in with. The presence of house shifties are often known to house pets. Some love shifties, while others not so much. For unknown reasons, small children are also more likely to notice shifties and make playmates out of them.
Some shifties bond with kids and even go to school with them. But as kids grow up, they have a harder time noticing their shifty and remembering their friend. Younger shifties don’t understand, and think their human friend is ignoring them. Some will continue to help their human friend with chores, while others will make a mess for attention.

When shifties go to sleep, they don’t dream. But, they can enter the dream realm where dreams are made. Dreep, or dream sheep, don’t like this! Shifties distract dreep who work hard, nibbling away cluttered thoughts of the day to make more space for new dreams. Dreep will wander into minds to find memories, feelings, and ideas for new dreams. Sometimes shifties follow them and pick out dream ingredients too!
Whenever a shifty is around, dreams get stranger and stranger. It’s a dreep’s job to guide dreams but also graze on dream worlds left behind when a dreamer awakens. It’s hard to do when a shifty is still playing in them. Dreep are the reason you forget your dreams and shifties the reason you remember.
Apocalypse Dragons have wings that double as a giant fang mouth, with six eyes hidden inside. When the time is right, they descend upon earth, open their inner eye and bring about the apocalypse. They summon monsters like tarantupuppies who can transform, or open other creatures, granting them immense power, speed, and overwhelming strength. These transformations come and go like waves, so you never know who is affected until it is too late.
Apocalypse dragons also summon viperhounds, who can open two or more creatures at the same time, fusing them into one entity. Fortunately, these transformations don’t last forever. Some rise with the sun, others with the moon. Depending on the time of day, the hunted become the hunters. Only Master Shifties have a chance to reverse the power of Apocalypse Dragons. Tarantupuppies go after small creatures on their mission of apocalyptic destruction. This tarantupuppy is surprised to find that she doesn’t need to bite a shifty at all. Maybe she found a new playmate.
"Let’s destroy together!" She giggles.
A master shifty sees this and pulls the young shifty away, using his power to transform him back.
The tarantupuppy goes mad, and sinks her teeth into the master shifty. Venom seeps into him, turning him into a monster. But this master shifty has learned to control his transformations a long time ago and can even summon change to those around them.
